The Standard Eurobarometer 103 (Spring 2025, fieldwork 26 March – 22 April 2025, n=26,410 across 27 EU member states) found that 73% of EU citizens believe their country has benefited from EU membership — the highest level recorded since the question was first introduced in 1983. The top three reasons cited were: protecting peace and security (37%), closer cooperation between member states (36%), and contributions to economic growth (29%). The Eurobarometer has tracked this question consistently since the early 1980s, making it one of the longest-running comparative public opinion series on European integration.

Fyrirvarar

The 73% figure is an EU-wide average; country-level satisfaction varies significantly (from ~50% in some Central European states to >90% in Ireland and Luxembourg). The question asks about perceived benefits to 'your country', not personal benefits — framing affects results. Standard Eurobarometer fieldwork covers only EU member states; no comparable data exists for non-EU EEA states like Iceland.
