Total merchandise trade between the EU and Iceland reached approximately €8.6 billion in 2024, comprising €4.5 billion in EU exports to Iceland and €4.1 billion in EU imports from Iceland. This represents significant growth from €3.7 billion in total trade in 2010, more than doubling over 14 years. The EU maintained a modest trade surplus with Iceland in 2024 of €387 million, though the balance fluctuates year to year — Iceland ran a small deficit with the EU in 2021–2022.
