Fordæmi Stjórnmálalegt norwegian eea review 2024
In May 2022, the Norwegian government appointed a 7-member independent committee to evaluate Norway's EEA cooperation over the preceding 10 years, with 18 specific evaluation items including comparison of the UK, Swiss, and Canadian models of EU relations, and assessment of how Nordic cooperation depends on the EEA framework. The committee was chaired by Line Eldring, chair of Fellesforbundet (Norway's largest private-sector union and historically EEA-sceptical). The review was commissioned under the Hurdalsplattformen coalition agreement and built on the previous 'Utenfor og innenfor' review (NOU 2012:2). The final report was published as NOU 2024:7.

Fyrirvarar

The review committee was chaired by a union leader from an EEA-sceptical federation, which may colour the review's framing. The Brussel-vaktin report describes the appointment; the actual findings are in NOU 2024:7 (available in Norwegian). The primary source for the review's conclusions should be NOU 2024:7 itself, not this newsletter summary.
