Enska frumtextinn

EU/EEA nationals working in Iceland are concentrated in specific sectors. As of 2025, tourism and hospitality employed approximately 25–30% of EEA foreign workers, construction 20–25%, fish processing 10–15%, and healthcare 5–8%. Polish nationals are the largest single group, comprising roughly 35% of all EEA workers. Approximately 42,000 EEA/EU nationals held valid residence registrations in Iceland in 2025. The sectoral concentration has shifted over time: before 2015, fish processing and construction dominated, while the tourism boom (2015–2019) drew large numbers into accommodation, food services, and transport.

Fyrirvarar

Sectoral breakdowns rely on ÍSAT industry classifications. Short-term and seasonal workers may be under-counted in registry data. Self-employed EEA nationals are harder to track by sector.
